Uber Quartzite Necklace

Uber Quartzite Necklace

£75.00

Huge piece of quartzite. Photos don’t do this stone justice, it has a subtle pink hue, from iron oxidising. Its been paired with a stunning strand of graduated salmon pink recycled glass beads from Ghana. I love the unpolished texture of these beads, they almost look grainy, like stones, and because each one is handmade from crushed glass pressed into moulds, each bead is slightly different and irregular. Love it. Such a statement necklace for those who like it big and bold!

Pebble has been smoothed by the sea against the sand so has a nice polished surface. 2 inches long at widest point.

Collected from Southwick, Brighton.

An unusual stone to find in Brighton, quartzite (not to be confused with quartz) was originally a quartz sandstone (Sedimentary). Under huge heat and pressure it changes into a metamorphic rock to form this gorgeous frosty opaque stone.

Made using a wire bezel technique I created, which is kind of a cross between basketry and weaving. It is a time consuming technique but a labour of love. Each piece of sea glass is securely and artistically encased in a delicate wire frame.

Surgical stainless steel findings. Highest quality stainless steel does not rust or tarnish, a hard wearing metal with a finish like antique sterling. Also suitable for people with metal allergies, stainless steel is used predominantly in the medical profession as people are less likely to react to it.

Necklace is very swingy and long for a boho feel, its 40 inches long. Slips over your head. See photo of me wearing for length.
