Quartz and Cornish Turquoise Necklace

Quartz and Cornish Turquoise Necklace
Really in love with how these turned out.
A beautiful cabochon of genuine Cornish Turquoise has been turned into a delicate pendant. Love the larger juxtaposition of a quartz intrusion in this one. Think its my favourite of the three!
This beautiful rare Cornish Gemstone makes a timeless necklace.
Cabochon has been polished but I do have a raw turquoise necklace too in a seperate listing.
Collected from Gun Heath China Clay Pit, St.Austell, Cornwall.
Cornish Turquoise is usually composed of feldspar, quartz and micas depending on where it forms and the different minerals oxidising, more copper will make it blue, more iron will make it more verdant. I love the dusty milky opaque blue hue of the Kernow variation. You can actually find it a stones throw from where I grew up, outside St Austell, Cornwall, where kaolinite (China Clay) is still mined. Turquoise was a happy accident when mining for kaolinite, so although its discovery was a by product of the huge China Clay Industry, it obviously unearthed some treasure.
Made using a wire bezel technique I created, which is kind of a cross between basketry and weaving. It is a time consuming technique but a labour of love. Each piece of sea glass is securely and artistically encased in a delicate wire frame.
Surgical stainless steel findings. Highest quality stainless steel does not rust or tarnish, a hard wearing metal with a finish like antique sterling. Also suitable for people with metal allergies, stainless steel is used predominantly in the medical profession as people are less likely to react to it.
Necklace is 18 inches long.
Cabochon is 15mm wide. Two other sizes available in shop.
